Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some frequently asked questions and some answers. If you have more questions for me, please ask them during our initial consultation or first session.

Ripples in a Lake

What are your fees?

Each individual 50 minute session is $225. Each child therapy 50 minute session is $225. Each 50 minute couples session is $250.

When beginning therapy, you have a right to a Good Faith Estimate for treatment. Please click here for my Good Faith Estimate notice.

Do you take insurance?

I do not work directly with any insurance panels at this time. Many insurance companies offer out of network reimbursement. If this applies to you, I am happy to provide monthly statement (i.e., a superbill) for out of network reimbursement. If you don’t know if you have out of network benefits, please contact me and I can support you in finding out.

Do you offer sliding scale?

I offer sliding scale and reserve a number of reduced fee spots in my practice. These spots are currently filled. I welcome you to still contact me, as I am happy to refer you to therapists based on your budget and/or put you on my waitlist for future sliding scale openings.

Do you meet with clients in person or on Telehealth?

I am currently seeing clients in person on Mondays at my Oakland office and on telehealth on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please inquire about current in person session availability.

What is your cancellation policy?

I request a minimum of 24 hours notice for cancelling appointments. If something comes up, and sometimes life works this way, please let me know as soon as you can. If you miss a session with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged the full session fee.

What can I expect during the consultation call?

The free consultation will be a brief 15 minute call where you can tell me what is bringing you to therapy. I can share a little more about my therapeutic approach, answer any questions you have and share how I can support you. Within the short time, we will both determine if we are a good fit for therapy together. If so, we will schedule a time and date for an initial session.

Is there anything I can do before our first session?

Yes! I like to get paperwork out of the way so we can make the most of our session time. Before our initial session, I will have sent you the following forms: (1) Consent to Treatment, (2) Telehealth Consent to Treatment, (3) Notice of Privacy Practices, (4) Acknowledgement of Receipt of Notice of Privacy Practices, (5) Client Information Form (6) Intake Form. If possible, please review in advance of our session, so you can ask me any questions you have. If you have no questions and you consent to treatment, please complete the forms and email them back to me before our first session.

What can I expect during our initial session?

First, I will review some of my practice policies with you. Second, if you submitted the paperwork before our first session, we will begin exploring the intake information you provided. I may have follow up questions to learn more information. This is where the therapy will begin.

If you had questions about the paperwork, I will also answer them in our initial session so that you can feel comfortable before signing and returning the forms.

Do you do short term therapy or long term therapy?

Although I am a depth psychotherapist, I do not believe you need to be in therapy long term to see the fruits of change. I am open to clients seeking as few as 6 sessions or as many as an undefined number of sessions. In each case, therapy will be tailored to helping you meet you treatment goals.
