A Red Heart with a Splatter on its Edge

Grief and Loss Therapy

Grief can be debilitating. You may feel isolated in its aftermath, wondering how to navigate the waves of sadness, frustration, anger, resentment and mourning. While it is commonplace to laugh and wear a smile in our society, it is not easy to grieve with others and carry on with our day to day activities. In this way, grief can be one of the most isolating experiences.

Grief can be recent or old. It is important to note that you may notice unresolved grief from one or more periods on your life timeline. Sometimes recent grief will stir up feelings connected to old grief as well, as your body and mind naturally try to process through your experiences. It can be a very overwhelming process.

And when it comes to losing a being you love, this can be the most heart wrenching experience. You may find yourself in a tumult of questions and thoughts:

“If only I could have said this….to them….”,

“Why didn’t I help them more?”,

“Maybe I could have tried a little harder…”

You may even feel guilt. It is important to have self-compassion as you go through your journey and to know that these are common experiences with grief.

Therapy can help you move through your grief, release unhelpful stories and re-write your narrative. Through therapy, you can reinvigorate your purpose so that you can hold on to those cherished memories of the past close to you… while also living your life to the fullest.
